Some people have been asking about the strategy "comparison bars" in math. I have posted in the resources section a scan from the teacher's manual that gives an overview of comparison bars and how they're used. This file will download as a pdf, which means it will open in Adobe Reader.

Our in-class work is on this site as well as a button where you can hear someone reading the directions to you. Students are writing letters to US Army troops through my cousin Lt. Colonel Ken Kamper, stationed in Seattle, WA area. He is deploying to Afghanistan for a brief while very soon. Here is a picture of him:
